Preparation for the 2019 UNSW Sunsprint Challenge is underway with the various teams finalising designs for their cars. The Challenge will take place on Friday 6th September and Saturday 7th September on the Village Green at UNSW.
This year we have offered our teams the user of the laser cutter in order to speed up the process. Using the laser cutter will enable the teams to create a much more precise design which hopefully will mean a more competitive car. With our new portable maker space in operation constructing our cars should be a much simpler process than in previous years.
Using the laser cutter requires team members to be familiar with the Adobe Illustrator software so there is a significant learning curve in following this path. Fortunately a number of students have used the program previously in Design and Technology so there is a good knowledge base to access.
There is a lot of work to do in the next few weeks if our teams are to have their cars ready. We look forward to sharing the development of each car in future posts.
