Our Year 9 team of Janice, Annabelle and Rebecca have also been busy over the past few weeks deciding on both the design and construction processes.
This team is highly skilled in the use of technology and decided to create their design using Sketch Up. Using this 3D modelling software enables the team to create their design to precise measures and see what it will look like before they try and build it. They can make any changes online thereby saving enormous time in the construction process.
Sketch Up can be learnt quite quickly and has the benefit of built-in tutorials to help you overcome any technical issues that arise.
Once the design had been created using Sketch Up the files were sent to Mr Davidson, the TAS Coordinator at St Mary’s Cathedral. Cathedral recently took delivery of a highly advanced laser cutter and have very generously offered to share this resource with our team.
This morning we received a message from Mr Davidson with the following image attached. SUCCESS!!!!! Now we just have to glue the pieces together.
Great work team and a big thank you to Mr Davidson and St Mary’s Cathedral College.
