Can you print a model solar car?

This was a question that was asked at the start of the process by our Year 8 students. Two teams decided they could and set about working with our TAS Coordinator, Mr Davidson, to try and make it happen. After a lot of time using Onshape and making moulds the answer to the question is YES!

Our first 3D printed car is almost complete and it is attribute to the determination of the students involved as well as the vision and knowledge of our wonderful TAS Coordinator. The boys are delighted with what they have achieved and are anxiously awaiting next Friday when their car will be tested on the track at UNSW. There is still quite a bit to do in terms of wiring, attaching wheels, connecting the motor and positioning the solar panels. Hopefully this will happen over the weekend and the car will be ready to race by early next week.
