Day 1 Summary

At the end of Day 1 of the UNSW Sunsprint Challenge most SMCC cars had positioned themselves nicely for racing on Day 2.

Of the two Year 7 cars, NRG showed plenty of speed to record a fastest lap time of 22.5 seconds while Solaris managed a creditable 29.73 seconds. The Year 10 team raced two cars, the new and improved Bullet 1 and the runner-up from 2014 Bullet 2. The 2014 version proved to be much quicker in all trials with a best time of 17.3 seconds while the new innovations on Bullet 1 proved hard to get a handle on and the car could only return a best time of 21.84 seconds. Our Year 9 guys team struggled to get their car completed prior to the trials and could only complete one full lap of the track in a little over a minute.

Overall it was a good day to test and fine tune the cars. A lot of information was gathered on the cars and the teams head home to try and improve their cars before racing on Saturday.

The Year 9 team have the most work to do while the Year 10 team have some serious thinking around how to best manage the configuration of their new car.
