Sunsprint Challenge 2015

Welcome to the UNSW Sunsprint Challenge for 2015. This is where you will find all the information you need to participate in this year’s Challenge.

There will be only be one Year 7 team chosen to represent the College in 2015. We will also be having teams in Years 8,9 and 10, so this will be our biggest participation in the Sunsprint since we began four years ago.

To participate in the Challenge you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Have a team of either three or four students. Preferably you will live close to each other. This is important as you will need to get together outside of school hours at different times.
  • Each team member should be skilled in at least one area to ensure you can complete all the different aspects of building the car.
  • The core skills needed are a high level of basic Science knowledge. In particular you need to understand the basics of electrical wiring. You will also need to be able to work with materials like balsa. You will need to be able to come up with a variety of designs to meet the criteria of the Challenge. You will also need someone who can read complex instructions and be able to break down the information into simple terms.
  • The most important skill you will need is to be able to work as a team.

To submit an entry to be part of the Challenge you will need to create a video highlighting the talents of each member of your team. You should also indicate why you want to be part of the Challenge. You should include anything you have done previously that might help you be successful in the Challenge. The more creative your presentation the better your chances of being selected!!!

The video will need to be uploaded to Youtube. (Use your school account) You will need to make the video public so it can be viewed by a number of people. You will need to send the link to Mr Burden before the closing date.

Closing date will be Friday 27th March.
